Hillhurst House
This redesign of the upper and main-floor living spaces in a young professional couple’s home included the addition of a gym, renovation to the master bedroom and ensuite, living room, and addressed some longstanding, complex water penetration issues.
The clients purchased their current home—a unique infill house developed in the late 1980s on a quiet street in West Hillhurst. The design for this “forever home” was customized to suit the needs of these athletic, professional clients. As triathletes, a customized training gym was constructed in the basement and a spa-like ensuite bathroom for post-workout relaxation was installed. The bedroom features ample closed-off storage space, while the living room is primed for beer drinking and hosting gatherings with friends.
In addition to the design development, we guided our clients through the process of dealing with increasing water damage issues and—when structural complications were uncovered during demolition—through extensive collaboration with the builder and structural engineer.
