Cochrane Heights House 2.0
For the second stage of this renovation, we worked with our clients to create a mudroom addition and garage that are full of personalized details, unexpected accents, and superior functionality.
Accessed through the existing glass door at the back of the house, the mudroom is full of light and colour. The large windows allow for ample daylight to stream in and the integrated solar tubes increase the amount of natural light flooding the space.
The feature of this mudroom is the wooden storage cabinets with gorgeous book-matched (mirrored) wood grain stained in a bold teal to match the accents that were added throughout the home in the previous renovation. There is a place for everything with adjustable height shoe storage, deep cabinets for yoga mats or baseball bats, and hooks for daily items like backpacks or bike helmets. There are even a few secret caverns, perfect for Santa and his helpers to use.
A stunning 2-car garage-mahal was integrated into the backyard area and includes a patio and pergola, perfect for outdoor entertaining, or ski and bike tuning. Windows abound in the garage, including a panoramic window above the workbench which allows for a spectacular view of the clients' home-grown garden, the sunset, or the kids playing. To increase the function of the outdoor space, custom metal brackets rise from the roof of the garage to cradle the beam for the brown pressure-treated wood pergola, giving it a boost in height to keep an open feel, while the joists and cross battens provide some needed shade from the heat of the day.
