Kicking Horse Coffee
As Kicking Horse Coffee considered a building restructuring, it turned out that the entire company restructured instead! They ultimately bought a new building, but not before we had some fun.
The proposed tenant improvement included administrative offices, flexible work areas, a boardroom, lounge, bathrooms, a first aid station, lockers, and a kitchenette.
The tall ceilings of the existing facility gave ample room to plan a two-story structure. With a tight budget and a complex program, we planned inexpensive but bold materials for the build: tick framing with corrugated steel, laminate wood, and finished plywood would lend a rustic but natural elegance that reflected the mission of the business. The bright company logos inspired a decor palette of funky-coloured tiles, paint, flooring, furniture, and tapestry intended to breathe life into what would have been a creative and multipurpose workspace.
