Rosedale House
This 1970s bungalow renovation took the home’s mid-century bones and made them work in a modern era by reconfiguring the awkward floor plan to create space, light, and allow the owners to move seamlessly through the home.
During previous renovations by another company, a second level was added and the house was extended into the backyard, but created extensive structural issues, which we repaired.
Streamlining circulation between the garage, back yard, side yard, kitchen and dining room was priority. Dropping the floor of the underused sunroom to create a new mudroom and exterior entrance made an awkward and tight entryway into a useful space. Landscaping around the new entryway and existing driveway complements the new doorway and remediated existing drainage issues.
The kitchen and living room were opened up to create a light, airy environment. Bright hand-painted backsplash tile, contemporary lighting, white shaker cabinets, golden oak hardwood floors, dark grey soapstone countertops, and light grey porcelain floor tile complement the new layout.
We also created a new workspace with a clear maple butcher-block worktop, ample storage and full of natural light. New high-efficiency windows throughout the main floor keep the home a comfortable temperature year round.
